“Always remember, Tova2, unless we or the Great Sophistan are thwarted by randomness, no one ever dies on Sophista. We cannot kill. Repeat these two things in your mind when you feel fearful and it will help you control your fear. You will be able to deal with any challenges, making everyone on Sophista happy. Are you ready for your challenge?” –Paul25 in Part 2: The Rebirth of Innocents, Chapter 3, page 30.
In Rusty Biesele’s The Saeshell Book of Time, Part 2: The Rebirth of Innocents, we are thrown back into the minds of Ty and Tyco, this time, living and reading the histories of Tova, Stefan, and Elof’s rebirth. In Part 2: The Rebirth of Innocents, we discover how Tova2 became the person first introduced to us in Part 1: The Death of Innocents. Zooming in between time, Tova2 learns about her true power and nature as well as her purpose in being a Sophistan human.
In Part 2: The Rebirth of Innocents, author Rusty Biesele takes us back into the world of Sophista, this time, structuring his book so that it goes into depth with Tova2 and Stefan’s reconciliation. The first two-thirds of book 2 centers on Tova2′s reconciliation as she learns about her role as a newly regenerated self, a sophistan-human with more powers than first imagined. A test to these powers is when she must direct and control the rise of Elof2, the teacher first mentioned in Part 1: The Death of Innocents. Her task is to learn how to manipulate the energy in the universe so that she is able to invoke her talent and use it to shape a matter-like form. The Staff of Power, the talent that Tova2 must harness, is essential for manipulating vast forms of energy, potentially enough to create a duplicate version of herself…
The last third of the book centers on both Stefan and Tova2′s role in Sophista as well as hinting on their future role as a couple. During Stefan’s reconciliation, he must learn how to balance his two dualities, that of his human self and his Sophistan self. What Stefan realizes is that both he and Tova2 are mostly Sophistan energy beings, whose sole function is to produce Sophistans that can live and reproduce in a matter universe.
“Stefan realizes that Sophistan1 has been careful to maintain Tova2′s compatibility with him. This could mean only one thing: unknown to Tova2, she must also be mostly a Sophistan energy being, just like Stefan. Stefan understands Sophistan1′s goal, which is to use Tova2 and him as the platform for producing Sophistans that can live and reproduce in the matter universe.” –from Part 2: The Rebirth of Innocents, Chapter 13, page 148.
This story is a continuation of The Saeshell Book of Time, Part 1: The Death of Innocents and should be read as such. Readers should always be aware that the words on the page of Part 2: The Rebirth of Innocents are memories being fed to Ty and Tyco, the characters from Part 1: The Death of Innocents. Nevertheless, it is a unique story in itself that expands on both Tova2 and Stefan’s backstory, using time as a circular process, interwoven within the text itself. This story will help solidify the information that we learned about how Stefan and Tova2 became the characters they we are introduced in Part 1: The Death of Innocents.
